What are the job responsibilities for a reservation department's clerk?

This reservation department also handles guest room bookings but they are not to be seen by guest. They follow up guest room bookings in their own respective office. Their job responsibilities are picking up calls when the phone is ringing. Sometimes the guest will make a room booking via a phone call to check whether there are rooms or not. Every clerk that are working in the reservation department, needs to answer the call in a very courteous manner. This shows that a guest is treated properly with care and respect. Next, the clerk would also handle the room booking by keying the guest details after the guest has confirmed to stay a couple of days and nights in the hotel. The guest information would be their name, contact number, date of arrival and departure, estimated time arrival and departure, room type, and speciality for a certain guest. They will also then handles the payment for guest room bookings by faxing the payment form over to the travel agent. If the clerk is not that busy, the clerk would normally fax over the confirmation of the room bookings to the specific travel agent. A reservation clerk has a heavy responsibility as well to serve a guest better and professionally.
